Candy Moisture Review

For those of you who don't know, I'm on vacation in Jamaica visiting some friends. I recently approached the lovely Tawana of Candy Moisture. Candy Moisture is a new Jamaican-based candy themed hair product line, currently offering a Shea butter based moisturizer, called Candy Moisture Mousse. I purchased the Candy Moisture Mousse, a satin bonnet and a satin pillow case and thought I would do a short review for you guys.

I received a black satin pillow case and a satin bonnet in the colour "Deep Blue Sea." I love the options of darker colours so that they have longer lives between washes. My favourite thing about this satin bonnet is that it actually stayed on my head all night! I'm a restless sleeper and usually I find myself adjusting or having to put back on my head ties in the middle of the night. This baby stayed on all night without budging or being uncomfortably tight.

I won't lie, I opened the product as soon as I could because I was intrigued by the bright colours and it definitely did not disappoint. A scrumptious aroma filled the car as soon as I did and I found myself extremely tempted to taste the product. With haste, I dampened my hair and removed a dime-sized amount of product from the jar. Rubbing it in my hands created a beautiful pink-purple colour that I smoothed through my hair, leaving it silky smooth and smelling like cupcakes. The morning after applying the product, my hair still felt moisturised. I definitely recommend!

Earthtones Naturals Product Review

I was gifted three products on the set of Teff's new music video from Earthtones Naturals.

Firstly, there is the Curl Cleanse Moisturizing and Conditioning Shampoo. I know many of us curly girls have written off shampoo and replaced it with co-washing. I was ready to give this product away and not even bother including it in the review. However, something told me to give it a try and I was so pleasantly surprised! The first thing I noticed was the scent, it kind of reminded me of pineapple flavoured soda and I couldn't wait to have my curls smell like that. It lathered gently and I didn't feel like I was in any way stripping moisture from my hair.

The Curl Quench Coconut Moisture Milk is now my favourite product! Once again, the same sweet smell with a burst of coconut and it left my curls feeling so soft and fluffy! I recommend this to everyone! It has aloe vera juice, coconut milk oil, jojoba oil, avocado oil, silk and oat protein and panthenol and is perfect for thin hair! Did I mention how nice it smells?!

I was no where near interested in trying the Curl Define Lite Curl Enhancing Gelly because of previous dissatisfaction with these types of products. I was shocked when I tried it to find it didn't leave my hair crunchy or sticky like what I'm accustomed to. Although not a product I would instantly grab for, it does exactly what it said it would by defining and holding my curls.

Lipsticks: Plums

Fall is creeping up on us and everyone knows that deeper plum-toned shades are usually really popular for the season. I'm going to do a short swatch and review of the plum shades I own (Finally! A beauty post!).

Firstly, one of my favourites is MAC's "Heaux," a limited edition matte-berry from the RiRi Hearts MAC Summer collection. The "retro matte" formula of this lipstick allows the longest wear imaginable. I can go a whole night out (drinks and snacks included) with only one touch up!

Secondly, my most recent lipstick purchase, a shade that I have wanted for quite a while is MAC's "Rebel". The satin finished shade is a berry red and is ever so slightly frosted, it is in the permanent range of MAC's lipsticks. It has a stronger berry tone and is less red and more purple than "Heaux" but they are pretty similar. I love the vanilla scent of MAC's lipsticks because it makes them extremely enjoyable to wear.

NYX Cosmetic's Extra Creamy Round Lipstick in "Medusa". Medusa is a creamy violet shade with a shimmery frosted finish. This was my first purple lipstick purchase when I was just starting out with makeup. I won't go as far to say that I love this one because honestly, I haven't worn it in years and it's gotten quite clumpy (as you can see in the photo). If creamy lipsticks are your thing, I'd definitely try this shade as well as "Bruised" from the same line. Bruised is a darker violet colour with a creamy finish and has gotten more wear time from me overall.

NYX's Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Copenhagen." A gorgeous dark-berry that could compliment any skin tone. I love this product! The soft matte lip creams have always been one of my favourite formulas but this was the first one I tried in a darker shade and I love it. The wear time is incredible, it glides on extremely smooth and dries to the perfect matte finish.

RiRi Hearts MAC Holiday Collection - Review and Lipstick Swatches

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas came early to Teddie's Closet this year as I was gifted (by an amazing friend, you know who you are) the exquisite holiday collaboration of MAC and (none other than) Rihanna. This most recent creative collaboration features two Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow palettes, two Superslick Eyeliners, three lipstick shades (including the collaboration's staple of RiRi Woo), a bronzing powder, a nail lacquer, a double ended brush and a beautiful quilted makeup bag. The collection was released online on December 5th and will be available in-stores on December 12th in North America. Here in Barbados, the collection launches on the 14th of December in-store but stock is extremely limited and there is a "first come, first served" basis.

Firstly, let's talk packaging. This collection alludes to the holiday season with white-pearl hardware featuring Rihanna's iconic rose gold detailing, maintaining elegance while still bringing a slight edge. The magnetic clasps on the eyeshadow palettes and bronzer are especially commendable.

Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow: Phresh Out
Featured are five shades created by Rihanna for infinite day-to-night looks. These shadows have a "highly pearlized frost finish" and would not be recommended for someone who prefers a matte shadow. These colours are perfect for the holiday season with Christmas and New Year's parties right around the corner.

Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow: 2x Dare
Once again, five eyeshadow shades that compliment each other. This palette features a deep grey-blue shimmer perfect for the holidays. I must reiterate that if you prefer a matte eye look to stay far away from these frosty shadows. I should mention that both 2x Dare and Phresh Out created a lot of glittery fall-out.

Superslick Eye Liner: Cockiness
A liquid liner in a beautiful rose-gold colour. Application is quick and precise thanks to the simple dipstick applicator. Great wear time, it almost never comes off!

Nail Lacquer: RiRi Woo
A limited edition shade to match Rihanna's signature RiRi Woo Retro Matte lipstick. Amazing application and this high-gloss colour is perfect for the holidays!

Double-Ended Brush
This gorgeous white-pearl brush features, on one end, a 217 Blending brush, and on the other, a 239 Eye Shader.

Makeup Bag
This GORGEOUS pink metallic quilted makeup bag is in a small rectangular shape is my favourite cosmetic bag to-date! The size doesn't allow for much (you can't even fit the whole collection in there) but for quick essentials, this bag is perfect!

And now on to our feature presentation, the lipsticks!

With Rihanna's collaborations, the first to sell out is always her gorgeous lip shades. This collection, we got the signature Retro Matte of RiRi Woo and two new Matte shades in Bad Girl RiRi and Pleasure Bomb.

The matte taupe-nude of "Bad Girl RiRi" has won the title of my favourite lipstick. I love this colour so much, it's a perfect everyday nude. Of course, the shade won't work for everyone and those with fair complexions cannot possibly expect to wear it as a nude but the shade works for me and I am in love!

Pleasure Bomb is a gorgeous matte fuchsia colour. A little bold for an everyday look but this shade accentuates the fun and flirty side of wearing lipstick. Most online images I've seen (including mine) honestly do the lipstick no justice so make sure you try Pleasure Bomb on for yourself before judging it too harshly.

Last but certainly not least, the matte cool red of RiRi Woo. Rihanna's signature red and the headliner of all four collaborations she has done with MAC. I've finally got my grabs on a RiRi Woo! I'm not one for a red lip but this lipstick came into my life and changed my mind. The perfect red. I can only describe it as perfect. The retro matte finish (which is lost in the photo, my apologies) is gorgeous and this lipstick is definitely a new favourite.

And that's all folks! Thank you so much for reading and please feel free to leave a comment below. Stay tuned for a holiday giveaway coming soon to Teddie's Closet. Like the page on facebook for more information.

Jolie Lipsticks Review and Swatches - Merlot and Flaming Fuchsia!

Hello lovelies! I hope you didn't mind the mini-hiatus Teddie's Closet went on last month! I'm back with a new easy-to-read layout and some wonderful new content for my amazing readers. Yes, you!

The wonderful team at Jolie Lipsticks gave me two products to review for you all so sit back and enjoy! Jolie Lipsticks is a brand that produces lipsticks and recently lip glosses for customers that aren't afraid to stand out. The products are Paraben free, made of organic materials and are not tested on animals.

Firstly let's talk about the packaging: the lipsticks come in gorgeous tubes featuring the Jolie Lipsticks logo and a clear top to make storage and lipstick selection really easy.

The gorgeous shades I was given are Merlot (left) and Flaming Fuchsia (right).

I've been lusting after Merlot for quite some time now but procrastinated in buying it so you can only imagine my excitement when I received it to review! Merlot is a gorgeous deep violety-brown colour (slightly comparable to NYX's Bruised) that is perfect for a night out partying if you want to give yourself that extra edge. It is quite a daring colour so I wouldn't recommend it to a lipstick newbie but if you think you can rock it, then rock on! I wouldn't recommend this colour if you're really pale (unless that's the look you're going for) because I found that it drained some colour from my face. I didn't get a chance to actually wear this lipstick but I am definitely looking forward to it.

Flaming Fuchsia is a bright pink with blue undertones that really makes a statement. I wore this colour to the movies with some friends and I felt like it really popped, highlighting my skin tone and making my smile appear much brighter. I think the colour is flexible and can suit almost any skin tone. The lipstick lasted a good four hours (including me snacking on a pretzel dog) so there's definitely good wear time.

Pros: Vibrant colours that only require three coats to reach full opacity, great packaging, affordable, lasts up to 4 hours and still looks good after eating.

Cons: I found that the lipstick was a bit flimsy so I suggest using a lip brush to apply it and avoid rolling it up any more than you need to in case the stick breaks. This of course is attributed to the extra creamy texture of the lipstick and the heat in Barbados.

I definitely recommend this brand of lipsticks and encourage you to check out the Jolie Lipsticks website to see what colours suit you. Information is below, have a great day and feel free to leave a comment!

M•A•C Zoom Fast Black Lash VS Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black

Hello guys and dolls! Welcome to my first ever comparative review! Today I decided to compare two products that I own samples of that claim to give similar results to one another.
I'm going to rate each product out of five for different categories and the highest score wins!
Let's get started!

M•A•C Zoom Fast Black Lash
Before and After I used M•A•C Zoom Fast Black Lash
This mascara claims to "saturate lashes with the richest black ever" and "separate each lash".
Since my lashes are already black, we're unable to see if it darkens lashes as effectively as it claims to.
I estimate a length increase of about 40%! I also found this mascara to be quite clumpy and my lashes difficult to separate while I was wearing it. Has anyone had this problem before?
  • Blackness: 4/5 (hard to tell)
  • Softness of eyelashes post-removal: 3/5
  • Increase of lash volume:  2/5
  • Lash Separation: 2/5
  • "WOW!" effect: 3.5/5
  • Total: 14.5

Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black

This mascara claims to "increase lash volume up to 6 times", "leave lashes soft and supple" and "provide perfect lash separation". This mascara left my eyelashes longer than they have ever been! A possible 45%-50% length increase and less clumping than the  M•A•C Zoom Fast Black Lash. Not to pick favourites (which I probably am) but so far I'm preferring this mascara!

  • Blackness: 4/5 (hard to tell)
  • Softness of eyelashes post-removal: 4/5
  • Increase of lash volume:  3/5
  • Lash Separation: 3/5
  • "WOW!" effect: 4/5
  • Total: 18!
WE HAVE A WINNER!
In my opinion, Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black is the better mascara (and my new favourite).
Does anyone agree or disagree with me? What are your opinions?

e.l.f. Essential Shine Eraser - BBD$2.00

e.l.f. Essential Luscious Liquid Lipstick in "Perfect Pink" - BBD$2.00

e.l.f. Essential Wet Gloss Lash & Brow Clear Mascara - BBD$2.00

e.l.f. Essential Zit Zapper - BBD$2.00

e.l.f. Studio Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths - BBD$6.00

The Hypershine Gloss is my favourite lipgloss right now plus it's an Allure Best Of Beauty Award Winner so it's got to be good. I don't really like the Shine Eraser, it disappointed me a bit but I guess it doesn't help that my face is super oily so maybe I just need a stronger product. I love the Liquid Lipstick, it's just like a coloured lipgloss but it's nice. The clear mascara is lovely! I personally prefer a black mascara so I won't use the lash half but people with lighter lashes should definitely give it a go. The brow half is great for setting eyebrows in place. I don't know how good the Zit Zapper is but I just liked how it looked, so I bought it. and for BBD$2.00? Why not!? The Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths are actually my favourite thing that I bought. They work great! I'd definitely recommend them.

It's impossible to find these items in Barbados (as far as I know). I bought them at a Target in Las Vegas when I was there (two weeks ago). x
